LOS ANGELES, CALIF. — May 2, 2007- New indie music site SukeyRose.com launches as a rare experimental project on May 1. The site is the brainchild of indie musician Mia Kim, who envisioned it as an opportunity for indie-music fans to follow the experience of an independent artist as she creates an album from start to finish, while also raising 100 percent of necessary funds through supporters.

SukeyRose.com serves as a forum that details an indie musician’s difficulties and successes in producing an album without the involvement of industry bigwigs. It is projected to be an album made solely for the fans and by the fans.

Fans, or “project members” have the opportunity to become “managers” of Mia Kim’s music by contributing thoughts and preferences about track order, album art, and other fine details. The Sukey Rose Project’s goal is to raise at least $15,000 from presales and donations, which will cover the costs of recording and CD duplication.

The newly launched site is a significant milestone in the indie-music realm because it sets a precedent of fully relying on supporters to make a successful album. It also communicates to other independent artists that producing an album is possible without guaranteed financial resources. Kim’s inspiration came from musician Jill Sobule, whose exceptional fan base allowed her to raise more than $80,000 for her own independent project.
