Project Shout Outs: Performer Mag AND KoreAm Journal

Performer Magazine, the nation’s largest musicians’ trade magazine, just printed a story about Mia’s fan-funding project.

Journalist Tripp Underwood writes, “For many indie artists, the concept of fan funding is more than just collecting donations and making albums, it’s a real connection between performers and an audience that is truly passionate about music.”

Amen to that! The Sukey Rose Project has been successful through the participation of people like you, whether you’re keeping up with the blog, voting in our polls, or spreading the word by putting up a banner on Facebook. We want to hear your opinions about the music and the ideas that are floating around in the independent music scene.

KoreAm Journal also caught Mia for a few questions in their August issue. You can find the interview with her on page 13 in the Spotlight section. And speaking of how independent musicians rely on the relationships with their fans, independent magazines rely on the support of their readers.

KoreAm Journal’s senior editor Julie Ha wrote a provocative open letter asking readers what they would do if they could help sustain the magazine if it could. The media is changing, newspapers have falling circulation numbers, and KoreAm is wondering what is necessary to keep the magazine thriving. If you have thoughts about this, you can join the conversation at www.savekoream.wordpress.com.
